Calendar at a Glance All Available Classes in a Calendar Format!!

Machine Mastery Classes:

A comprehensive program designed to enhance your sewing knowledge and skills. Classes are open to all brands of machines. Class 1 (MM1) must be taken first and will provide a solid foundation on machine and sewing basics. Whether you are a novice or an experienced sewer, you will learn about the features of your machine, the latest stitching techniques, and all of the new sewing accessories available that will make your sewing adventures effortless, enjoyable, and masterful! Class 7 (MM7) will be specific to the machine (top of the line). Class 8 (MM8) is dedicated to machines with embroidery capabilities and embroidery only machines. If you purchased your machine from us the following classes are included with your machine: Mechanical machines will get lessons MM1 & MM2 free. Basic computerized machines will get classes MM1-MM4 free, midrange computerized machines will get classes MM1-MM6 free and top of the line will get classes MM1-MM8 free.

Anyone who wants a class that is not included with your machine may also pay for that class. If you did not purchase your machine from us and would like to take our classes, there is a fee for each of the classes.

Serger classes are also available listed as MYS1, MYS2 and MYS3. Classes are free if you purchased your software from us. Fees apply to those who did not.

The dates, times and fees are listed on page 2 of the current newsletter for all the Machine Mastery, Serger and Software Classes. Take a few hours to learn all the amazing things your machine can do!

Reservations are required for all classes. Be sure to review the supply list and come to class prepared.

Foundation Piecing - Supply List
Instructor Sue Walters 1 Week, 3 Hours
Learn the old age tradition of foundation piecing, this is the time to break out the stash ladies, the small forgotten pieces that you thought would come in handy one day is here. All you need is a little muslin and some pretty fabric to learn how our ancestors quilted back in the day. You will learn the technique, how to select and create a multitude of designs. During class you will create one complete block and have the ability to make a million more!

Make a Quilt Workshop - Supply List
Instructor Sue Walters - 4 Weeks 3 hours
This workshop will meet four times so that you have time to complete each step of the quilting process and will progress at the depth needed for its participants. If you are a beginner or advanced quilter you’re welcome to come join in the fun. Quilt Workshop Gallery

Pinwheels - Supply List
Instructor Sue Walters, 1 Week, 2 Hours
You'll learn in this class how easy and versatile half square triangles can be. So bring your fabric and imagination to see just how many quilts use this technique in a vast variety of ways.

Quilt As You Go - Supply List
Instructor Sue Walters, 2 Weeks, 2 Hours
Here's something new - Quilt as you go! This quilt is quilted one 7-1/2" square at a time. This technique is fast and lots of fun. People are sometimes hesitant to make a big quilt because the top is so cumbersome to quilt. This quilt can be quilted in lots of ways other than the pattern calls for and is easily adaptable to other styles of blocks.

Serge-A-Quilt - Supply List
Instructor Sue Walters, 1 Week, 4 Hours
Learn to make a quilt in a day. You won't believe how fast you complete a quilt using your serger. There are several designs to choose from. This quilt would make a great gift or just use it to take a nap. These super warm and wonderful quilts will be a favorite for years to come.

Stitching for Design and Texture - Supply List
Instructor Shelley Brucar, 1 Week, 3 Hours
This is a follow-up class to the "Painting With Fabric" class. Each student should bring their art quilt ready to be stitched. Different stitching designs for each quilt top will be discussed and demonstrated. Students will practice free-motion machine quilting and start stitching their art quilts.

Strip Quilting - Supply List

This class is fashioned after the book by Eleanor Burns - "Still Striping after 25 Years". The book contains several patterns all creating quilts utilizing strip piecing. So get yourself a jellyroll or some coordinating fabrics and pick out a pattern for one of the quick and easy quilts.

A Pants Pattern...Just For You - Supply List

Are you tired of ill-fitting pants? Are you in the mood to sew and need a pattern that fits? If so, then THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU! You will have a pattern that fits YOU perfect; your pants will look great on you, they will feel good to wear, and you will LOVE them! Sound like magic? You can do it! And, it is easy. Just think, you can have a whole wardrobe of pants knowing each pair will be your favorite. The concept is based on Darlene's book: "Your Shape, Your Clothes and You Secrets of a Successful Wardrobe."

Beginning Sewing - Lounge Pants - Supply List

Learn how to lay out and cut a pattern, stitch your pants together and how to make an elastic waistband.

Beginning Sewing - Skirt - Supply List

This easy to assemble skirt has several different options. Make it short, long or with a flounce. You will learn how to lay out and cut a pattern, sew it up and insert elastic.

Designer-Style Purse - Advanced Beginner/Intermediate - Supply List

Do you admire that famous designer’s quilted fabric purses? Now you can make one of your own or one for a special gift. Choose your fabrics. We do the quilting in class. Seven pockets- one outside and six inside, with zipper closure. With a little homework, you’ll finish your purse in class.

Easy, Fun, Casual Shirt - Supply List
Instructor Carlene Miller, 1 Day, 8 Hours
Showcase five of your favorite fabrics while making a casual, fun, relaxed shirt to wear with your pants, shorts and skirts. We will fit your patter, cut out the fabric and stitch it together and you will learn the basic sewing techniques to give your garment a truly professional look. Darlene will be discussing how to select five fabrics considering color, prints and shapes to truly make your own "couture" shirt. Just think of all the compliments you will get while wearing this wonderful shirt, and how much you will enjoy making and wearing it. This pattern can also be used as a jacket.

Embroidery Applique Supply List
Learn super simple applique using your  embroidery machine using either the Dalco or Sew Many Designs Packs.

Embroidery Play Day Supply List
Afraid of your embroidery machine? Come embroider with us. Bring in a new project or one you just need some advice on. Come for a little while or stay until your project/projects are done.

Humbug Bag - Advanced Beginner/Intermediate - Supply List  Instructor Mary Quinn Boyd, 1 Week, 2 Hours
Quilt a fabric sandwich at home, either straight lines or free motion. Bring it to class to add a zipper and make a handy small tote or cosmetic bag. It's an unusual twisted shape--based on an old-fashioned English candy. Check out the supply list and pattern for information on selecting fabrics and preparing the quilt sandwich.

Green Grocery Bag Tote - Supply List
Instructor Mary Quinn Boyd, 1 Week, 5 Hours
Go green and create reusable fabric grocery bags. Great for yourself or friends - especially those who have everything. We'll use a sewing machine in class, but you can enhance the bag with serging or embroidery at home. Make with home dec, denim, or canvas-like fabric for durability.

Learn Appliqué - Supply List
Instructor Sue Walters, 3 Weeks, 3 hours
Make an entire quilt or just make individual blocks. We’ll meet three times. The first meeting will consist of different appliqué techniques and the selecting and starting of a project. In the second meeting we will cover different quilting techniques used on appliqué blocks and quilts along with the continuation or completion of your project. During the third meeting you can use as you see fit, whether you need to continue with the building or completing of your project or just the camaraderie of the other participants. All levels of quilters welcome.

Low-Slung Bag - Supply List

Come have a great time foundation piecing this super-fun and easy bag by Kay Capps Cross, and get “HIP” while doing it! The straps can be shortened or lengthened to fit your style.

Painting With Fabric - Supply List
Instructor Shelley Brucar, 1 Week, 6 Hours
This class is a lesson in raw edge appliqué where you will create a wonderful wall hanging project. Shelley will cover designing, free-motion quilting and fused binding.

Professional Tote - Intermediate - Supply List
Instructor Bridget Petracek, 2 Weeks, 4 Hours
Who would not love to carry this tote on the train to work or school, with its perfect spots for a laptop, books and water bottle? What mom would not love to have this stylish tote for all of baby's necessities? Have all pieces accurately cut and fused to interfacing, gather all of your supplies and be ready to have fun and sew; you will finish this tote in class! Please note, this class is not for beginners.

Traveler's Book Cover

Learn to make this cute and functional paperback book cover. With wrist straps, it can keep your hands free when you need. Includes attached fabric or ribbon bookmark. Another nice gift item. Great way to use scrap fabric.

Kids Can Sew: Lounge Pants - Beginner - Supply List
Instructor Bridget Petracek, 3 Days, 2 hours
Kids 8-16 years old will sew a pair of comfy lounge pants in this fun class. Once they make one pair, they will want to make more.

Kids Can Quilt - Beginner - Supply List
Instructor Bridget Petracek, 3 Days, 2 hours
Kids 8-16 years old will sew together pre-cut squares, add backing and batting, and make a quilt they will love in this class. No sewing experience is necessary. Let us know your favorite color so we can add it to the kit! There is a kit fee and short supply list for this class.

Kids Can Sew: Skirt - Beginner - Supply List
Instructor Bridget Petracek, 3 Days, 2 hours
Kids 8-16 years old will sew a cute skirt with enough scraps for a skirt for her doll! Pick three different fabrics for a stylish scrappy look.

BMP8-Babylock’s Professional Embroidery Machine
This embroidery-only machine was designed to bridge the gap between home embroidery machines and industrial machines. It is compact enough to sit on a table-top but offers 6 needles and a speed of 1,000 stitches per minute. This would allow you to sew multiples in record speed with professional results.

Classes by Request:

If you are interested in taking a class that we do not have on our schedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to make it happen.  We need a minimum of 3 people and a teacher with the expertise needed and we will be happy to accommodate your request.

Also, if you are interested in TEACHING any classes, please bring in a sample, a lesson plan, and a supply list.  We will be happy to check it out and see if it would be something that would go.
